Kevin and Melanie first crossed paths while working in the restaurant and brewery world in the Half Moon Bay, where they discovered a shared passion for great beer, thoughtful food, and genuine hospitality. Spending their early careers in brewpubs and taprooms shaped their appreciation for the open, welcoming atmosphere those spaces create. That sense of connection and community became the foundation for what they would later build together.

Early on, they worked in a wide range of roles, giving them a well-rounded understanding of how restaurants and breweries operate from the ground up. Rather than one defining moment, it was the consistent satisfaction of contributing to a successful operation that inspired them. They were drawn to the idea of creating a place where care, quality, and intention showed up in every detail.

Cold Water Brewery held a special place long before they became owners. Founded by a South Lake Tahoe local, its original vision and character immediately resonated with them. Over the years, they spent time in Tahoe as regular guests at Cold Water, drawn to its charm, sense of place, and connection to the community. When the opportunity arose to take over the business, it felt like the right fit. They trusted their instincts and embraced the chance to build something meaningful in a town they loved.

Since taking ownership, Kevin and Melanie have focused on listening closely to their community and evolving with intention. Beer quality and variety are at the heart of everything they do, paired with approachable food and a welcoming environment for locals and visitors alike.
