Kevin and Melanie first met at Half Moon Bay Brewing Company, a place that ignited their shared passion for great beer, excellent food, and warm, welcoming service. It was there that they fell in love, not just with each other, but with the inviting vibe of breweries and taprooms. The open and casual atmosphere that brewpubs create became something they deeply appreciated, and it shaped their vision for what they wanted to pursue together.

At Half Moon Bay Brewing Company, they both worked in a variety of roles, giving them a well-rounded understanding of the restaurant and brewery business. It wasn’t one specific moment that sparked the idea of owning their own place, but rather the fulfillment they felt contributing to the success of the company. That feeling of reward and accomplishment inspired them to create something of their own, a space where they could pour their passion into every detail.

Cold Water Brewery holds a special place in their hearts. Founded by a local in South Lake Tahoe, its original style and vision resonated with them long before they became owners. They had visited South Lake Tahoe frequently over the years and were regular guests at Cold Water, drawn to its character and charm. When the opportunity arose to take over the business, they didn’t hesitate. Though they didn’t have a fully formed plan, they knew this was the perfect fit for them and their dream of owning a brewery that offers a welcoming and open environment.

Since taking over Cold Water a year ago, they have embraced feedback from their local community, which fuels their drive to improve every day. Beer quality and variety are at the heart of everything they do, and they are dedicated to creating an experience that combines delicious craft beer, great food, and a sense of belonging for everyone who walks through the doors.
